Eric Carle love

For someone who loved children's books as a child, I'm a bit ashamed to say that I didn't know that there was more to Eric Carle than The Hungry Caterpillar. We went to the library this week and Albie chose "Friends" out of a book box and I'm so glad he did it has for me everything a picture book should have. It has illustrations that get the senses going and it has a really lovely story, a real "aaaah" story.

The story is pretty mental to say the least it goes from a story about friendship into a big journey and then throws itself into a happy ending but the pictures throughout sum up a fantastic journey and makes me want to travel the world so I can see mountains, rainforests, the ocean and deserts.

In addition to "Friends" we got a few board books to read which leaves us with just a few books added to our #300PBs this week. We're not rushing, we're taking a gentle stroll through this challenge as I have a monkey that doesn't want to sit through paperbacks so we go back through our board books each night for Albie's bedtime stories.

Bits and Pieces

At the weekend we went to the children's library in Hamworthy where my parents live and it is so nice I'm suddenly a bit disgruntled with my local children's library. Albie was loving it as he does, I don't know what it is but as soon as he sees shelves of books or even just a pile of books his face lights up! I don't mind at all!

For this week's 300 picture book challenge we have had our heads in lots of Child's Play and Amazing Babies books so my mission next week is to diversify!![gallery type="rectangular" ids="189,195,191,192,193,194,190" orderby="rand"]

My favourite book of the week was a book called "Feelings" I just love board books with baby faces in, Albie loves looking at different emotions it's so great seeing his mind whirring. I've just ordered some books for my shop which has this theme so watch this space.

300 books 1/52

This is my first post of the year for Anne-Marie's challenge. It's to read 300 picture books before the year is up.

Challenge me to read the books and it's an easy task however I'm going to make sure a child, my one year old, is read every page.

Up until a couple of weeks ago, picture books would have been ripped but last week I sat down with Albie and we read Rabbityness.

I'm hoping that by the end of the year we will have more picture books but right now it's a lot of board books (which are allowed, I checked!) as you can see:
